AMEB Publications
If you are planning to take a grade exam, you may use the books issued by AMEB, including Technical Work Book(2008), Series 15 or 16 Grade Books, Piano Sight Reading(2004), Aural Tests and CDs-Graded Exercises in Aural Skills(2002). Faber's Piano Adventure If you are a youth beginner,I recommend Faber's Piano Adventure. My professor of piano pedagogy in the U.S highly recommended it. Each book uses word pictures, diagrams and explanations in a very effective way. It is understandable and easy to implement. Songs in performance book are fun to play. Sightreading and ear training are offered in the books. This serie includes four core books Lesson Book, Theory Book, Technique&Artistry Book, and Performance Book. The European Piano Method This is a wonderful method book for later beginners. In every lesson, students are encouraged to gradually reach a technical standard that allows "artistic" work on expression and musical interpretation to begin. Alfred's Adult All-In-One Course Alfred's Basic Adult All-in-One Course is designed for the beginning adult student looking for a truly complete piano course. It includes lesson, theory, technic and additional repertoire in a convenient, "all-in-one" format. This comprehensive course adds such features as isometric hand exercises, finger strengthening drills, and written assignments that reinforce each lesson's concepts. There is a smooth, logical progression between each lesson, a thorough explanation of chord theory and playing styles. Piano for Leisure For an adult, you may choose some pieces from Piano for Leisure Series(AMEB). It explores popular repertoire including well-loved standards from the classics, jazz style and arrangemetns of movie themes and popular songs. |
